USA Top 10 Best Lawn Mowers

Though it’s amber waves of grain and purple mountain’s majesties that are heralded in America the Beautiful it’s finely manicured lawns and green grassy hills that dominate the landscape around most Americans. The US obsession with grass as the ground covering of choice can be seen in every neighborhood and at all climates on the estimated 49,000 square miles that it covers. Precision mowed grass can be enjoyed at the the over 14,500 golf courses that stretch across the USA from coast to coast. Despite the rise in popularity in AstroTurf, natural grass still dominates American football stadiums with some arenas opting for a blend of natural and synthetic.

The original push chain and gear lawn mowers were developed in England around 1830. The first commercially successful human powered push mower however was developed by Elwood McGuire of Richmond, Indiana in 1870. Gas lawn mowers started trimming American lawns starting in 1914 when they were first manufactured by Ideal Power Mower Co. which later became a part of Indian Motorcycle. The lawn mower has long been a part of American innovation with dozens of companies and brands sprouting up over the years each contributing to, and pushing the design boundaries of, the lawn mower as we know it today.

What makes one lawnmower better than the rest? A variety of factors come into play. How much acreage are you trying to cover? Are there tight spots or narrow corridors that you need to mow? Is your grass light enough to mulch or is a bagger required? Do you have reachable access to electricity or is gas the way to go? We tried to consider all these factors and more when compiling our lists here at The Lawnmower Guru in order to provide you with the most complete picture of each model.
